The faces of CloudLab

Who’s who at CloudLab: Patrick Jarzabek

“Pati" is a jack-of-all-trades and almost part of the inventory at CloudLab. He has been here since the beginning of 2015 and has done just about every job there is to do. This makes him a dangerous miracle weapon in the fight against stupid questions, stubborn programming and unforeseen events.

The trained media designer for digital & print knew our CEO Marc from a previous job, and when he was offered a job at CloudLab, Patrick didn’t hesitate at all:

"I was sure this thing was going to work, so I was on it right away!" Since then, Marc has become Pati's fearful foosball opponent and Pati has had to "scramble" quite a few times. Pati is a charismatic person who brightens up even the darkest day with his lively and nonchalant manner - but if you get on his nerves, you'd better watch out for his sharp tongue.

How did your career at CloudLab develop?

I started out in support and training, explaining the software to our customers. At the same time, I was also involved in project management. After about a year and a half, I switched over entirely to project management. Since the beginning of 2018, I have been responsible for technical requirements in sales. But because I’ve been here so long and worked in so many areas, I’m also pretty much everybody’s gofer.

What exactly do you do at CloudLab?

I think it would be easier to tell you what I don't do, and that would be a very short answer, haha.

What’s interesting about your job?

My tasks are always changing, even if they remain the same. There are never two prospects or customers with the exact same requirements. And even if there were, you would still need a different approach to implementing them. So every day is a new experience: exciting, challenging and, above all, fun.

What’s your favorite thing about CloudLab?

I actually really enjoy talking to people who assume that the only answer to their many questions will be "No" or "Yes, but..." - and we then prove them wrong. I also like the interaction with the other people who work here. We’re more than a team, some of us have developed really good friendships here.

What special events or funny anecdotes have you experienced at CloudLab?

We once had an employee who was completely off his bike, there are a thousand stories. One that came up again and again is the story of "Emrico". The employee in question must have heard a mother calling her son "Enrico", but she pronounced the "N" like "M". Since then, the said employee invented the wildest stories and told them around, such as: "Emrico, come we have to learn English for the test at school on Saturday. Tell me: My name is Emrico, I am from Gelsemkirchem. Fimally I am emjoyimg speakimg Emglish" - probably only situational and spoken funny, but still: world class!

I am a fan of ...:

... people who don’t spit their gum out on the floor.
